Let us build a house
Whether it’s four walls, a round house, or a tent , do you live in a house or a home?
I was often told that I easily make a new house home quickly. Once the furniture is in and the fridge stocked I set up the bedroom, my place of rest, and set the rest of the house in such a way that it feels like home.
For some it may seem cluttered. For me, it’s the memories of homes past and the intention for the building I’m currently calling home. Some people hang a certain picture over the couch regardless of the house. Others make sure the TV and the comfy chair are in perfect alignment.
What makes your house your home? Do you feel or see a difference between the two?
Many of us are currently settling in to the new meaning of church home. Worshipping outside like going to the drive-in movies or from our kitchen table are you able to feel like church at home?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Comment below, please.
Enjoy the week.
To come –
This is a favourite choral anthem that I have shared with a couple of choirs over the years. Come, build with soul and spirit. Indeed a strong invitation to us all.
Will you join us in prayer, in worship (virtually), and in love to and with the community?
Our focus this week will be on covenant, the church, and our place in the world.
2 Samuel 7:1-17
God’s Covenant with David
7 Now when the king was settled in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies around him, 2 the king said to the prophet Nathan, “See now, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of God stays in a tent.” 3 Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that you have in mind; for the Lord is with you.”
Life throws our way; through the storms, the ups the downs, the worries, joys, and sorrows…we praise the One who is with us….
and now let the weak say I am strong………
Let the poor say I am rich….
Because of what the Lord has done for us…..
Ten were healed. Only one returned to give thinks. Give thanks, daily
Thank you for your faithful support of St. Andrews, St. Lukes, and Emmanuel United Churches. We appreciate your continued prayers and all that you do to minister in the world. Please contact your treasurer or myself for ways to give financially during our time of sheltering in place. You are a blessing to all. Barbara
